Jacksonville, FL., -- Senior designated hitter
Torry Jones has capped off a phenomenal season with a series of prestigious honors, showcasing both his individual talent and the strength of the Edward Water Tigers baseball program on the national stage.
Jones was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II All-South Region Second-Team as a designated hitter, after an outstanding senior campaign. In addition, he earned a selection to the Minority Baseball Prospects HBCU All-Star Game, placing him among the top 44 HBCU baseball prospects in the country.
Adding to his decorated season, Jones was honored as the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Player of the Year and secured a spot on the All-SIAC First-Team as a designated hitter. He was also named to the Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA) All-South Region Second-Team as a designated hitter. Jones received EWU Baseball team MVP honors as well as the James Day Scholar Athlete of the Year Award at the EWU ROAR Award which honors one male and one female student-athlete who exudes exceptional performance, leadership, and dedication both on the field of play and in the community. Â
A native of St. Petersburg, Florida, Jones was a cornerstone of the Tigers offense throughout the season. He appeared in all 53 games, finishing with a .354 batting average, 73 hits, 58 runs, and 59 RBIs in 206 at-bats. He also launched 11 home runs and drew 36 walks, demonstrating power, consistency, and plate discipline. His standout performances earned him SIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors on two occasions.

Jones's selection to the HBCU All-Star Game further solidifies his place among the nation's elite HBCU athletes and reflects the high standard of excellence upheld by Edward Waters University Athletics.
As he prepares to take the field alongside the country's top HBCU prospects, Jones leaves behind a lasting legacy and sets the bar high for future generations of Tigers student-athletes.
