Jacksonville, Fla., -- The Edward Waters Baseball program has made changes to their coaching staff. The Tigers have announced the hiring of Antwan Brown to their dugout.
Antwan Brown is a Florida native, originally from Lawtey and a proud graduate of Bradford High School in Starke, where he was a varsity letterman in football, basketball, and baseball. His athletic journey led him through Lake Sumter and Santa Fe College before finishing his collegiate baseball career at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. There, he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration, following an associate degree in Sports Management.
After hanging up his cleats, Antwan found his purpose in coaching. He began at Father Lopez High School, where he led the team to a Sweet 16 appearance in his first year. Most of his high school coaching career was spent at Atlantic High School, where he built the program from the ground up—leading the team to back-to-back playoff appearances for the first time in 22 years. Under his leadership, the program earned 2x academic excellence honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association and saw numerous players go on to play collegiate baseball—including Atlantic's first-ever MLB Draft pick, Christian Pregent (10th Round, Mets).
Antwan was named All-Area Coach of the Year, FCA Coach of the Year, and FACA District Coach of the Year, while also helping his players log hundreds of hours in community service. After a successful one-year run at New Smyrna Beach High School, where he led the Cudas to a district title and a regional finals appearance, he took his talents to the Division I level at Bethune-Cookman University. There, he coached first base and outfielders, helping the Wildcats claim a SWAC championship.
Today, Antwan is the founder of Married to the Game LLC, a platform designed to inspire and empower youth athletes to live with purpose and resilience. His mission is to use his life journey as a guide to help shape the next generation of leaders.
Above all, Antwan's proudest title is father to Bryson Nyoka-Brown.
Let's welcome Antwan Brown to the EWU Tiger Family.
