JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Edward Waters senior designated hitter Torry Jones capped off a historic 2025 season with yet another major accolade — being named to the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-South Region Second Team, one of the top postseason honors in college baseball.

The award is a fitting exclamation point on a breakout senior campaign that solidified Jones as one of the premier hitters in the region — and the country.

"Torry was everything a team could ask for in a leader and a competitor," said Head Coach Reginald Johnson II. "He delivered every single time he stepped into the box, and this honor is a reflection of the phenomenal season he had and the legacy he leaves behind."

Jones was a driving force behind the Tigers' offense in 2025, finishing the year with a .354 batting average while starting all 53 games. The St. Petersburg, Florida native compiled an eye-popping 73 hits, 59 RBI, 58 runs scored, and 11 home runs in just 206 at-bats. He also showed incredible plate discipline, drawing 36 walks — and bringing his on-base percentage to one of the highest in the SIAC.

His dominance at the plate didn't go unnoticed. Jones was named the 2025 SIAC Player of the Year, selected to the All-SIAC First Team as a designated hitter, and earned NCBWA All-South Region Second Team recognition. He was also twice named SIAC Player of the Week, further proving his consistent impact week after week.

Jones' explosive bat and clutch hitting led Edward Waters through some of its biggest moments of the season, and his ability to change a game with one swing made him one of the most feared hitters in the conference.

In addition to his conference and regional honors, Jones was selected to the Minority Baseball Prospects HBCU All-Star Game, placing him among the top 44 HBCU baseball prospects in the nation.

As he closes the book on his college career, Torry Jones leaves behind a powerful legacy — one built on hard work, leadership, and a bat that spoke volumes. His name is now etched in Edward Waters history, and his impact on the diamond will be remembered for years to come.
