Mission Statement
The mission of the Edward Waters University Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) is to serve as a liaison between student-athletes, faculty, and the athletics department. SAAC seeks to enhance the student-athlete experience by providing opportunities while promoting a positive image as a representative of the College, the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, and the NCAA.
Edward Waters SAAC Guiding Principles
The Edward Waters Student-Athlete Advisory Council will be guided integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
Purpose
- Streamline and promote efficient and effective communication between the student-athlete population Department of Athletics administration.
- Review NCAA and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference activities and proposed legislation and offer student-athlete insight.
- Review institutional policy changes affecting student-athletes such as housing, academics, etc.
- Design and implement programs that encourages academic achievement, health promotion, social responsibility, general life skills awareness and community service.
- Promote "togetherness" and support for all varsity teams by encouraging attendance at the athletic competitions of fellow student-athletes.
Membership
- Members will be selected by head coaches or to those who indicate a willingness to serve
- Voting members shall consist of at least one member of each of Edward Waters University’s sixteen varsity sports
