Box Score Lakeland, Florida-For the first time in 2023, the Edward Waters women's soccer squad came out on the short side of the ledger with a 4-0 road loss to a strong Florida Southern side Wednesday evening at Berend Field.

For Edward Waters (5-1-2), they were under duress for nearly the entirety of the match as Florida Southern (5-3-1, 1-1 SSC) dominated possession and kept the Lady Tigers on defense. The Moccasins, opened the scoring just 19 minutes into the match, then doubled their advantage in the 26th minute to take a 2-0 lead at the half. FSC added two more goals in the second half, in the 54th and 78th minutes respectively to put the contest away and send EWU to their first loss of the season. 

Chances for the Lady Tigers were few and far between in the match as EWU only recorded three total shots, compared to 38 for Florida Southern with 19 of their shots being on goal. Nadja Dzetelovic, Queen Moore, and Dahien Cabrera each recorded shots for Edward Waters. Goalkeeper Sheila Pascual faced 19 shots in the matchup, recording 14 saves in a losing effort for Edward Waters.

The Lady Tigers will look to rebound in their next match as they will return home on Tuesday, October 3rd. Edward Waters will matchup with their second consecutive Sunshine State Conference squad as they will host the Tritons of Eckerd College at 7:00pm at Glover Community Field and Stadium.
