JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Edward Waters University women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against Palm Beach Atlantic University on Labor Day afternoon at Nathaniel Glover Community Field & Stadium.
The Lady Tigers moved to 3-1-1 overall on the season following the hard-fought result, while Palm Beach Atlantic moved to 2-1-1.
After a scoreless first half, Edward Waters broke through early in the second period. Joselyn Casanova found the back of the net in the 62nd minute, scoring at the 61:11 mark off an assist from Dadie Cherenfant to give the Lady Tigers a 1-0 advantage.
Edward Waters continued to create opportunities after taking the lead, with Casanova and Rose-Bertude Rosinvil each putting shots on goal. However, Palm Beach Atlantic goalkeeper Jadyn Stults made two second-half saves to keep the match within reach.
The Sailfish eventually answered in the 84th minute when Kelsi Bennett scored at the 83:01 mark, converting an opportunity off an assist from Meren Patton to even the contest at 1-1.
Casanova led the Lady Tigers offensively with two shots, both on goal, and one goal. Rosinvil added two shots, including one on target, while Cherenfant recorded the assist on Edward Waters' lone goal.
Goalkeeper Solange Brown turned in another strong performance between the posts, recording four saves while allowing just one goal across the full 90 minutes.
Palm Beach Atlantic held a narrow 7-5 advantage in total shots and a 5-3 edge in shots on goal. The Lady Tigers generated four of their five total shots during the second half and held the Sailfish without a corner kick over the final 45 minutes.
The match remained competitive through the final whistle, with Edward Waters receiving late yellow cards to Rosinvil and Maliya Gangadin-Small as both teams continued to battle for a potential game-winning goal.
The Lady Tigers will look to build on Monday's result as they continue their 2026 with a pair of road matches against Lynn and Florida Memorial on Saturday, September 12 and Monday, September 14.
