MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Edward Waters University women's soccer team battled Florida Memorial University on Monday afternoon at Dr. Lester Brown Park but ultimately fell, 4-1, in a Sunshine State matchup.
The setback moves the Lady Tigers to 3-3-1 on the season.
Florida Memorial struck first in the 16th minute when Javine McKnight found the back of the net off an assist from Jennifer Canarutto. The Lions added another goal less than five minutes later, as Alexia Medrano Martinez scored in the 20th minute to give FMU a 2-0 advantage.
Edward Waters entered halftime trailing 2-0 but quickly answered after the break.
Just 1:20 into the second half, senior forward Rose-Bertude Rosinvil put the Lady Tigers on the scoreboard, scoring at the 46:20 mark off an assist from Dadie Cherenfant. The goal marked Rosinvil's seventh of the season and gave EWU renewed momentum.
Florida Memorial, however, responded with two additional goals in the second half. McKnight scored her second goal of the match at 50:47, while Allyson Knowles added another goal in the 65th minute to push the FMU advantage to 4-1.
Rosinvil continued to create opportunities for the Lady Tigers, finishing with a team-high seven shots and six shots on goal. Cherenfant added four shots, including two on target, while Daniela Iduriaga recorded one shot on goal.
Goalkeeper Solange Brown made eight saves for Edward Waters as Florida Memorial finished with 17 shots, including 12 on goal. The Lady Tigers generated 13 shots and earned one corner kick, while FMU recorded three corner kicks.
Despite the result, Edward Waters will have an opportunity to respond quickly as the Lady Tigers return home for their next contest.
Edward Waters will host Georgia Southwestern State University on Wednesday, September 16, at 4:00 p.m. at Nathaniel Glover Field and Stadium. The Lady Tigers will look to use the home-field advantage to get back into the win column and continue their 2026 campaign.
