Volleyball Welcomes Tymesia Miller As Assistant Coach

Jacksonville, Florida-Edward Waters women's & men's volleyball head coach Lauren Ford has announced the hiring of Tymesia Miller who will serve as an assistant coach for both championship programs.

Miller comes to Edward Waters with a wealth of knowledge and experience as both an accomplished player and coach. The Winter Haven native recently completed a two-year stint as head coach at Davenport High School in Davenport, Florida. In her first season, Miller led the Broncos to an impressive 16-8 overall record and a runner-up finish in their district.

Prior to her time at Davenport, Miller was a volunteer head coach for five seasons at Jewett Middle Academy in her hometown of Winter Haven, where her squads went undefeated for five seasons until 2020, when the COVID-19 global pandemic cut their season short. During that time at Jewett, Miller was also an assistant coach at South Florida State College.

Miller began her coaching career in 2004, where she coached at her high school alma mater, Winter Haven High School, where she built a powerhouse program for eight seasons. In 2012, Miller took the role of head coach at Santa Fe Catholic, where she turned a program around from a 3-10 record the year prior, to an 18-9 record and a 3rd place district finish. While at Santa Fe, Miller also mentored the #1 ranked player in the state of Florida, according to MaxPreps, who led the state in total kills.

Following her time at Santa Fe, Miller took the reigns of the volleyball program at Victory Christian Academy in Lakeland, where in her two year stint, Miller turned the middle school, junior varsity, and varsity programs to winning programs.

As a player, Miller was a two-time All-Conference player at Polk Community College (currently known as Polk State College), before transferring to Fort Valley State University. In the 1994 season, Miller was ranked in the top 5 of the SIAC in total blocks and blocks per game for the Lady Wildcats.

Miller is a 2018 graduate of Warner University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Educational Studies. She also obtained a master's degree at Warner in Education with a concentration in STEM.  She is married to EWU women's basketball assistant coach Corey Miller, who she has three children with and also has four grandchildren.
