JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Edward Waters University women's volleyball team continued its dominant run of play on Friday night, earning their fifth consecutive victory with a commanding 3-0 sweep over Savannah State inside the Adams-Jenkins Complex.
The win extends the Lady Tigers' streak of 15 consecutive set victories, as Edward Waters has now won each of its last five matches in straight sets.
It was a well-balanced team performance from start to finish, with several Lady Tigers making key contributions on both sides of the net. Naomy Vergez led the offensive charge with 13 kills, while also adding six digs and two blocks. Ayanna Blocker delivered an all-around effort, finishing with seven kills, 11 digs, and three aces, while Skylar Fick provided a strong presence at the net with nine kills, four blocks, three digs, two aces, and two assists.
Setter Autumn James efficiently directed the offense, recording 36 assists to go along with two aces and three digs. Norah Laurore continued her stellar play at the net, compiling five kills, seven blocks, and four digs, and Jewel Helmuth added eight kills to round out the balanced attack.
With the win, the Lady Tigers improve their momentum heading into the final week of the regular season. Edward Waters will next hit the road on Tuesday, November 11, for a conference matchup against Albany State before returning home for Senior Day on Thursday, November 13, against Fort Valley State at 6 p.m. inside the Adams-Jenkins Complex.
