Lady Tigers Complete Eckerd Invitational With 11th-Place Finish

GULFPORT, Fla. — The Edward Waters University women's golf team completed its latest fall tournament on Tuesday, finishing 11th overall at the 2026 Eckerd Invitational at Pasadena Yacht & Country Club. 

The 11-team tournament was contested Monday and Tuesday, September 21-22, on the par-72, 6,006-yard course. The Lady Tigers finished the three-round event with a team score of 1,098, posting rounds of 390, 344 and 364.  

Juliane Borlongan led the way for Edward Waters, finishing tied for 66th overall with a three-round total of 254 (+38). After opening with a 92, Borlongan made a significant improvement during the second round, shaving 13 strokes off her opening-round score with a 79 before closing the tournament with an 83.  

Audrina Garcia was next for the Lady Tigers, placing 68th with a total score of 277 (+61). Garcia opened with a 92 before carding an 89 in the second round and a 96 in the final round.  

Emily Acosta finished 70th overall, turning in a three-round score of 282 (+66). After an opening-round 101, Acosta responded with an 89 in Round 2 and completed the tournament with a 92.  

Jenna Leonard followed in 71st place with a 285 (+69). Leonard showed a strong improvement from her opening round, following a 105 with an 87 in the second round — an 18-stroke improvement — before recording a 93 over the final 18 holes.  

Rounding out the EWU team lineup was Micah Castillo, who placed 72nd with a 299 (+83). Castillo posted rounds of 105, 97 and 97, improving by eight strokes following the opening round and matching her second-round score over the final 18 holes.  

Edward Waters also had Jackie Yanez competing as an individual. Yanez finished 73rd overall with a three-round total of 315 (+99), posting scores of 117, 95 and 103. Her second-round 95 represented a 22-stroke improvement from her opening 18 holes.  

Barry University captured the team championship with an 886, while Flagler finished second at 905 and Saint Leo took third at 913. Barry's Leonie Sinnhuber claimed the individual championship after finishing even-par at 216 over three rounds.  

With the Eckerd Invitational complete, Edward Waters will have several weeks to prepare for its next tournament. The Lady Tigers will return to the green Monday and Tuesday, October 12-13, when they travel to Greensboro, Georgia, for the Newberry Fall Invite, hosted by Newberry College at Grand Harbor Golf Club.
