Montgomery, AL., – The Edward Waters Women's Golf team took 12th place in the ASU Spring Classic, a Division I tournament hosted at Arrowhead Country Club on February 15th.
EWU finished just outside of 11th place as the Tigers compiled a combined score of 167-over par. The Tigers finished just 4 shots back of Savannah State sitting at 164-over par.
Junior Albane Le Helloco led the way for EWU as she tallied an impressive 11th place finish on the individual leaderboard. Helloco shot a first round 80 followed by a 79 to finish 15-over in total for the event. The eleventh-place finish marks Helloco's best showing of the season and her first top 15 finish. The Bethel University transfer has been generating a lot of buzz on campus with her limitless shot making ability and power off the tee.
Freshman Pearl Jenkins finished not far behind with back-to-back 82 stroke rounds ending at 20-over par. She tied for 21st in the overall standings. The Naples, FL native is well known for her steady play and this event sets up perfectly for a bounce back performance at the Tigers next competition.
Juliane Borlongan, another rising young freshman, made her colligate debut, opened up the tournament with a round of 86, but was quickly able to rebound in round two with an 83. Good for a 34-over par total and a 34th place finish. Redshirt Sophomore Lexus Rudder-Hartnell rounded out the Lady Tigers on the week with her rounds of 123 and 128 finishing 107-over par and 59th place on the week.
The Tigers will now prepare for a head-to-head clash at home with Central State University hosted right here in Jacksonville, FL at the historic Brentwood golf course on February 19-21.
