Jacksonville, FL – The Edward Waters University (EWU) women's golf team claimed victory at the inaugural Rumble in the Jungle head-to-head exhibition, held Friday at the historic Brentwood Golf Course.
The Rumble in the Jungle featured two single-day stroke play events, with the winner taking all. The event was historic on multiple fronts—it marked EWU's first-ever home golf tournament, the debut competition for Central State University's (CSU) brand-new women's golf program, and the first NCAA Division II golf tournament played at Brentwood Golf Course.
EWU dominated both days, shooting 66-over par on day one and improving to 50-over par on day two, securing victories in both rounds.
Junior Albane Le Helloco led the way on day one, earning low medalist honors with a stellar 6-over 74, finishing four strokes ahead of her teammate, freshman Pearl Jenkins. On day two, she posted a 9-over par 77, placing third. Her opening-round 74 stood as the lowest score of the tournament.
Jenkins delivered a strong performance, shooting a 10-over par 78 on day one to finish second. She bounced back on day two with an impressive 7-over par 75, claiming the top spot on the leaderboard. She added even more excitement with a hole-in-one on the par-3 7th hole, marking the first ace of her career.
Freshman Juliane Borlongan was also impressive, carding an 11-over par 79 on day one to finish third. She improved on day two, firing a 9-over par 77 to secure a second-place finish.
Redshirt sophomore Lexus Rudder-Hartnell rounded out the Lady Tigers' lineup, recording scores of 107 (39-over) on day one and 95 (27-over) on day two, finishing fourth in both rounds.
The Lady Tigers now set their sights on Charleston, SC, where they will compete in the Low Tide Invitational at Dunes West Golf Club—a prestigious event featuring some of the top NCAA Division II programs in the country.
