Jacksonville, FL – The Edward Waters women's soccer team will kick off their 2024 season with a road match against Barry University tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 pm at Buccaneer Soccer Field.
Under first year head coach Abbey Golden, the Lady Tigers will look to improve on last season's 9-6-2 record.
Senior midfielder
Dahien Cabrera led the squad with 35 total points last season, including a team high 16 goals scored with three assists. Senior captain
Libby Brown finished first on the team with five assists to go along with six goals, good for second most last season.
Returning senior goalkeeper
Sheila Pascual anchored the EWU defense with 66 total saves in 15 games last season. Pascual along with junior transfer
Olivia Galloway with look to tag team the nets for the Lady Tigers this season.
Edward Waters will rely on a mixture of veteran leadership and youthful energy this upcoming season.
The Barry Buccaneers were tabbed to finish 10th in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC). Like the Lady Tigers, the Buccaneers will too be under the tutelage of a first-year coach in Jay Harris. Barry went 6-7-3 in 223 on their way to finishing ninth in the SSC. The Bucs return 17 letterwinners including goalkeeper Maya Caon who finished fifth in the conference in goals against average.
The Buccaneers currently hold an 1-0 all-time series record over the Lady Tigers after a 7-1 victory last season in Miami Shores.
Alyha Velazquez Diaz scored the lone goal for EWU on an assist from
Libby Brown.
