COLUMBIA, S.C. — A hat trick from Dadie Cherenfant and a two-goal performance from Rose-Bertude Rosinvil powered Edward Waters University Women's Soccer to a commanding 6-2 road victory over Allen University on Thursday afternoon at the Southeastern Freight Lines Complex.
With the victory, Edward Waters improved to 6-3-1 overall and completed the season sweep of Allen. The Lady Tigers scored twice in the opening half before erupting for four goals after halftime to secure the road win.
Cherenfant wasted little time putting Edward Waters in front, opening the scoring in the 10th minute. She struck again in the 27th minute, giving the Lady Tigers a 2-0 advantage that they carried into halftime.
Edward Waters continued to apply pressure immediately after the break. Ellie Shurman found the back of the net in the 51st minute to extend the Lady Tigers' advantage to 3-0. Allen answered in the 58th minute on a goal from Rory Scott, but EWU needed just 16 seconds to respond, as Rosinvil scored her first goal of the afternoon to restore the three-goal cushion at 4-1.
The Yellow Jackets briefly cut the deficit to 4-2 on an Angelina Vasquez goal in the 59th minute, but the Lady Tigers quickly put the contest out of reach.
Cherenfant completed her hat trick in the 61st minute, scoring her third goal of the afternoon to push the advantage to 5-2. Rosinvil then capped the scoring in the 68th minute with her second goal of the match, giving Edward Waters its final 6-2 margin.
Cherenfant delivered a perfect offensive performance, scoring on all three of her shot attempts, while Rosinvil converted both of her shots into goals. Shurman also scored on her only attempt as Edward Waters finished the match with six goals on six shots, with every EWU attempt finding the target and the back of the net.
The Lady Tigers' six goals marked their highest offensive output since their 6-0 home victory over Allen earlier this season. With Thursday's result, Edward Waters outscored the Yellow Jackets 12-2 across the two meetings to complete the season sweep.
Goalkeeper Solange Brown played all 90 minutes in goal for Edward Waters as the Lady Tigers secured their sixth victory of the season.
Edward Waters will now return home for a challenging non-conference matchup against Florida Southern College on Wednesday, October 7 at 4:00 p.m. inside Nathaniel Glover Stadium.
