Lady Tigers Rally Past Valdosta State 2-1 to Close 2026 Home Slate with Victory

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Edward Waters University women's soccer team capped off its 2026 home schedule in thrilling fashion on Tuesday afternoon, rallying from an early deficit to secure a 2-1 victory over Valdosta State University inside Nathaniel Glover Community Field & Stadium.

The victory improved the Lady Tigers to 7-6-1 overall, while Valdosta State fell to 5-5-3 on the season.

Dadie Cherenfant and Rose-Bertude Rosinvil provided the offensive firepower for Edward Waters, each finding the back of the net as the Lady Tigers overcame a 1-0 first-half deficit to close their home campaign on a winning note.

Edward Waters came out aggressively in the opening half, generating several early scoring opportunities. Joselyn Casanova recorded the Lady Tigers' first shot on goal in the ninth minute, but her attempt was turned away by Valdosta State goalkeeper Alannah Zander.

Cherenfant and Rosinvil followed with additional scoring opportunities in the 14th and 15th minutes, respectively, but both attempts sailed high of the goal.

Despite Edward Waters' early offensive pressure, Valdosta State struck first in the 29th minute when Anna Dandeneau found the back of the net at the 28:48 mark off an assist from Ameliah Dixon, giving the Blazers a 1-0 advantage.

The Lady Tigers refused to enter halftime trailing.

With less than three minutes remaining in the opening period, Edward Waters delivered the equalizer as Cherenfant scored at the 42:14 mark, finishing a scoring opportunity created by Rosinvil and Casanova. The goal brought the contest level at 1-1 heading into the halftime break.

Edward Waters carried that momentum into the second half, continuing to apply pressure in search of the go-ahead goal.

The breakthrough came in the 55th minute when Rosinvil delivered the eventual game-winner at the 54:04 mark, converting a scoring opportunity off an assist from Ronsaifia Beauplan to give the Lady Tigers their first lead of the afternoon at 2-1.

With the advantage in hand, Edward Waters turned to its defense to protect the lead over the final 36 minutes.

Valdosta State attempted to mount a comeback, but the Lady Tigers remained composed defensively, limiting the Blazers' scoring opportunities and preserving their one-goal advantage.

Goalkeeper Solange Brown played a pivotal role in the victory, recording three saves in 90 minutes of action. Brown made two important second-half stops, including a save in the 78th minute on a shot from Natalie Ocampo, helping Edward Waters maintain its lead down the stretch.

Rosinvil paced the Lady Tigers offensively with three shots, one goal and one assist, while Cherenfant contributed two shots and the opening goal. Casanova added one shot on goal and an assist, while Beauplan recorded an assist on the game-winning goal.

As a team, Edward Waters held a narrow 6-5 advantage in total shots, while Valdosta State finished with a 4-3 edge in shots on goal.

The victory marked a fitting conclusion to the Lady Tigers' 2026 home campaign, showcasing the team's resilience and determination as Edward Waters overcame an early deficit against a Gulf South Conference opponent.

The Lady Tigers will return to action October 31 with a road match against Virginia State at Rogers Field in Petersburg, Va. Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
