Jacksonville, FL – Edward Waters University (EWU) is thrilled to announce that freshman runner Ian Kimutai has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Men's Runner of the Week for the second time this season. Kimutai earned this honor following his outstanding performance at the Ave Maria Invitational, where he finished first in the men's 8K race with an impressive time of 25:38.7.
Kimutai's time was nearly a full minute ahead of the second-place finisher, underscoring his dominance on the course. His exceptional effort helped Edward Waters secure a 10th place finish overall out of 13 competing teams in a highly competitive field.
Also on the men's side, Larry Degraffread notched a top-30 finish in the meet with a time of 28:19.0. His best finish so far this season. Elvis Kimutai, Tracy White, Anthony Glover and Jahmier Jackson, Amari Mckinnon and Maquavion Parks all had strong showings in the race as well.
On the women's side, the Lady Tigers were led by Dee'nayizsa Fance who finished the course in a time of 27:34.7. She was followed by
Ivyn Jepkosgei,
Paris Mckinnon,
Abigail Watt,
Sammya Brown, and
Tranasia Missick, in that order. The Lady Tigers placed 9
th out of 10 teams.
Barring the effects of Hurricane Milton, the men's and women's cross country teams will wrap up their regular season with a trip to Florida's Capitol city of Tallahassee to participate in the FSU Cross Country Invite on Friday, October 11.
