Edward Waters Hosts Screening Of Playing Through

Jacksonville, Florida-Edward Waters University in conjuntion with Women Of Color Golf and in celebration of Women's History Month held a screening of "Playing Through" on Wednesday evening at Milne Auditorium

The film covers the life and times of Ann Gregory, known as the "Queen of Negro Golf". Gregory became the first African-American golfer to participate in a United States Golf Association (USGA) Championship in 1956, taking part in the U. S. Women's Amateur Championship. Over her storied career, Gregory recorded nearly 300 victories and is in four golf Halls of Fame, including the USGA Hall of Fame, the African American Golfers Hall of Fame, the National African American Golfers Hall of Fame, and the National Black Golf Hall of Fame.

Women of Color Golf Founder and Executive Director Clemmie Perry along with the writer of the film, Curtis Jordan were in attendance and held a question and answer period with student-athletes and staff following the screening.
