JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The future of Edward Waters University men's basketball just got brighter. Head Coach
Cabral Huff has officially announced the signing of nine new student-athletes to the 2025-26 roster—a powerful mix of experienced JUCO and collegiate transfers, along with elite high school prospects ready to make an immediate impact.
From dynamic scoring guards to dominant post defenders, this incoming class is rich in talent, versatility, and winning pedigree. Coach Huff spoke highly of each addition, praising their skillsets, character, and potential to help elevate the Tiger program.
"We were intentional in how we built this class," said Coach Huff. "We wanted competitors. We wanted leaders. We wanted guys who are hungry to grow and represent Edward Waters the right way. Every one of these young men brings something unique to the table, and we're thrilled to welcome them to our family."
JUCO TRANSFERS
X'Zavion McCoy – 6'1 Guard – Gogebic Community College – Ocala, Fla.
A high-IQ floor general and three-level scorer, McCoy averaged 17.7 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 48% from the field and 41% from three.
"X'Zavion is a fierce competitor with the ability to take over a game with his playmaking and shot making. He's going to bring leadership and grit to our backcourt." – Coach Huff
Ty Barbee – 6'6 Forward – Brunswick Community College – Rose Hill, N.C.
A versatile stretch forward, Barbee put up 10.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.1 blocks, and 2.0 assists, shooting 47% from the floor and 36% from deep.
"Ty is a long, athletic wing who can do a little bit of everything. His ability to defend multiple positions and stretch the floor makes him a key piece for us." – Coach Huff
Jahlil Green – 6'9 Post – Fayetteville Technical CC – Greensboro, N.C.
A dominant presence in the paint, Greene averaged 9.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.4 blocks per game, earning Defensive Player of the Year honors in his JUCO conference.
"Jahlil is a game-changer defensively. He anchors the paint, protects the rim, and plays with a physical edge. He's exactly what we needed inside." – Coach Huff
Cam Oates – 5'10 Point Guard – Brunswick Community College – Fayetteville, N.C.
Oates brings elite quickness and high-level court vision, averaging 15.4 points, 4.6 assists, and 2.9 rebounds, earning First Team All-Conference honors.
"Cam is a dynamic point guard with speed and toughness. He's battle-tested and knows how to run a team—he's going to push the tempo and be a true floor leader." – Coach Huff
FOUR-YEAR TRANSFERS
Keshawn Evans – 6'6 Forward – Voorhees University – Atlanta, Ga.
A dominant all-around forward, Evans stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.9 steals, 1.6 assists, and 1.1 blocks on 63% shooting, earning First Team All-Conference honors.

Amayoa'ah Phillips – 6'2 Guard – University of Virgin Islands – Saint Thomas, Virgin Islands
One of the top scorers in all of HBCU basketball last season, Phillips averaged 22.7 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists, shooting 46% from the field and 33% from three, and finishing as the 3rd-leading scorer among HBCU programs.
"Amayoa'ah is a bucket—plain and simple. He can score at will, plays with a chip on his shoulder, and has experience leading a team. He'll bring instant offense." – Coach Huff
HIGH SCHOOL SIGNEES
Anthony "AJ" Jones – 6'5 Combo Guard – North Tampa Christian (FL) – Wesley Chapel, Fla.
A sharpshooting guard with great size, Jones averaged 11.7 points, 5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists, while shooting an eye-popping 56% from three (70-for-127) on nearly six attempts per game.
"AJ is one of the best shooters in the country in his class. At 6'5", he's a matchup nightmare and has the tools to become a special player in our system." – Coach Huff
Gio Easley – 6'1 Point Guard – Gateway Charter HS (FL) – Fort Myers, Fla.
A reliable and confident floor general, Easley averaged 13.3 points, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds, shooting 40% from three on high volume (70-for-175).
"Gio is a cerebral point guard with a smooth jumper and great instincts. He's battle-tested and ready to contribute early." – Coach Huff
Jayvon Johnson – 6'1 Guard – KIPP Collegiate Academy (GA) – Atlanta, Ga.
A do-it-all guard who stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, 5.7 assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game while shooting 46% from the field and **33% from three.
"Jayvon is a high-motor guard with a natural feel for the game. He defends, he facilitates, and he plays with incredible heart." – Coach Huff
