Jacksonville, Fla. —Edward Waters University junior forward Keshawn Evans has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Newcomer of the Week, for the week of November 25, adding another accolade to his standout debut season with the Tigers. Evans, a native of Atlanta, Ga., has already earned SIAC Player of the Week this year, and continues to establish himself as one of the conference's most impactful new additions.
Evans delivered a pair of strong performances in the Tigers' road sweep over Lane College and LeMoyne-Owen College, averaging 19.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 steals on 53% (8-for-15) shooting from the field and 70% (21-for-30) from the free-throw line.
His week was highlighted by a dominant showing in EWU's 91–88 win at Lane, where he poured in 26 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and added four steals and two assists while playing all 40 minutes. Evans followed that performance by contributing 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists in the Tigers' road victory over LeMoyne-Owen.
Evans' consistency, versatility, and ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor have been crucial to Edward Waters' early-season success. His latest honor further underscores his emergence as one of the premier newcomers in the SIAC.
Edward Waters University congratulates Keshawn Evans on being named SIAC Newcomer of the Week and looks forward to his continued contributions as the Tigers push deeper into conference play.
