Columbia, S.C., -- The Edward Waters men's track and field team finished eighth in the 2025 SIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the University of South Carolina.
The Tigers scored 41 total points as multiple student-athletes recorded top five finishes across several events.
Samuel Vessat and
Ian Kimutai-Ruto both notched first overall victories for Edward Waters. Vessat claimed first in the men's 400m with a time of 46.18. Kimutai-Ruto took first place in both the 1500m and 5000m events. He also tallied a second-place finish in the 10,000m. Vessat took home a sixth-place finish in the 200m event.
Jumper
Jahmier Jackson compiled a ninth-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 13.57m.
Taleo Bethel finished 14th in the event and Dauntavian Williams placed 17th.
The 4x440m relay team on
Amari Mckinnon,
Jahmier Jackson,
Anthonyo Calvin and
Samuel Vessat clocked a ninth-place finish in a time of 3:28.58. Calvin also notched a 17th place finish in the 110m hurdles.
The Tigers will head to the UNF Last Chance Invite May 2 & 3. This final track meet allows all student-athletes the opportunity to make qualifying times and distances for the NCAA Outdoor Championships on May 22-24 in Pueblo, CO.
Sprinter
Samuel Vessat has already qualified for the Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in both the 200m and 400m events.
