Daytona Beach, FL., -- The Edward Waters men's and women's track and field teams showcase some top performances at the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic held on April 3-5.
The EWU Tiger men notched a tenth-place finish, and the Lady Tigers finished 26
th overall.
Samuel Vessat notched two more top 5 finishes as he finished fourth overall in the 200m finals. In the prelims on the 200m, Vessat qualified for the DII Championships with a time of 20.91. Vessat also placed second in the 400m event with a time of 46.80.
Ian Kimutai also collected a top 3 finish as the freshman finished as the runner-up in the 5000m event. Kimutai also placed 49
th overall in the 1500m event.
Anthonyo Calvin placed 12
th in the men's 110m hurdles followed by
Maquavion Parks who placed 17
th overall. Calvin also finished 21st in the 400m hurdles and Parks placed 27
th overall.
Dauntavian Williams compiled a 24
th place finish in the men's long jump followed by
D'Shun Edwards who placed 34
th in the long jump event.
On the women's side, freshman
Paris Mckinnon placed sixth in the women's high jump with a jump of 1.52m. Mckinnon also finished 27
th in the women's 400m event.
Sanya Joseph also notched a top 10 finish, placing eighth in the women's heptathlon. Jospeh also finished 25
th in the 100m hurdles.
Di-Raphaelle Nelson finished with a 17
th place finish in the women's javelin.
Trenia Palmer placed 20
th overall in the women's shot put and compiled a 21
st place finish in the women's discus.
Sprinter
Abigail Watt turned in several terrific performances as she finished 17
th overall in the 400m, 24
th in the 200m and 26
th in the 100m.
The EWU men's and women's track and field teams will return to action April 12 for the Alice Coachman Invitational hosted by Albany State at Robert Cross Track & Field Complex.
