Edward Waters University Awarded Prestigious NCAA Ethnic Minorities and Women’s Internship Grant

Jacksonville. FL., -- Edward Waters University has been awarded the prestigious NCAA Ethnic Minorities and Women's Internship Grant, a significant milestone in its commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion within college athletics. This grant will enable Edward Waters to establish a full-time athletic academic success coach position, aimed at supporting student-athletes and enhancing their academic experience.

The NCAA Ethnic Minorities and Women's Internship Grant provides funding for entry-level, full-time administrative positions for one academic year. Its primary goal is to increase ethnic minority and gender representation in athletics administration at NCAA Division II and III schools and conferences. The program offers exposure to critical areas such as strategic planning, budget management, compliance, student-athlete welfare, diversity initiatives, and professional development opportunities. Recipients of the grant receive $30,000 annually to support the intern's salary, along with an additional $3,000 for professional development. The initiative also includes opportunities for interns to attend the NCAA Convention and participate in leadership development programming.

Edward Waters University plans to use this funding to create a full-time athletic academic success coach position. This role will focus on supporting student-athletes academically while promoting diversity and inclusion within the university's athletic department. This position aligns with Edward Waters University's strategic plan, Eminence 2025, by enhancing the academic profile of the institution through the creation of a competitive 21st-century academic program of excellence while fostering a genuine student-centered culture rooted in student success, engagement, and achievement.
