Jacksonville, FL., -- The 2024-25 season was a historic one for the Edward Waters Men's Basketball Team, marking a year of milestones and laying a strong foundation for the program's future.
Â
Despite battling injuries all season—playing just two games with a fully healthy roster—the Tigers posted their first non-COVID winning season since 2014-15. Their 16 victories were the most in a single season since that same year.
Â
Competing in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), where they gained full membership in 2022-23, EWU finished with a 12-9 conference record—their first winning record in SIAC play since 2013-14.
Â
The Tigers made their mark on the SIAC weekly and postseason awards.
Myles Hosten was named SIAC Men's Basketball Freshman of the Year—the first player in program history to receive this honor. He also earned a spot on the All-SIAC Freshman Team. Junior guard
Prince Davies III was selected to the All-SIAC Second Team after averaging nearly 20 points per game in conference play. He was also the only EWU player to be named SIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week this season.
Ja'Kobe Williams earned SIAC Newcomer of the Week honors and surpassed the 1,000 point career mark in January.
Jaelen Nelson won Newcomer of the Week in back-to-back weeks, making him the only player in the conference to achieve that feat.
For the first time in program history, Edward Waters cracked the top 10 of the D2CSC South Region Media Poll, further cementing their status as a rising force in the conference.
With a solid core of returning players, the Tigers are poised to build upon this historic season as they continue their upward trajectory in the SIAC.
