Box Score 2 Albany, Georgia-The Lady Tiger softball squad saw their three-game series against Albany State brought down to just a Friday doubleheader due to rain that would wash out Saturday's single game contest. Edward Waters would split the doubleheader, taking Game One 6-1, and dropping the second one by a 1-0 final score.
GAME ONE: Edward Waters 6, Albany State 1:
Albany State would scratch the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first inning thanks to an RBI single to take an early 1-0 lead. Edward Waters got into the act in the top of the second on
Laura Scott's two-RBI double to right field to take their first lead of the contest at 2-1.
Kylah Gardner smacked her team leading third homer of the season in the top half of the third inning to add to the Lady Tiger lead at 3-1. Then in the top of the fourth,
Katie Goodin hit an RBI single to right field to give EWU a three run lead at 4-1. In the top of the sixth, EWU would add to their lead with
Kayla Saunders scoring on an error and an RBI single making it a 6-1 ball game that EWU would see through to victory.
Jodasea Peterson earned win #8 on the season with a complete game effort, allowing six hits, one earned run, walked one, and struck out four.
GAME TWO: Albany State 1, Edward Waters 0:
An Albany State solo homer in the bottom of the fifth inning would be all the scoring that would take place in the second matchup as the Golden Rams would win 1-0 to split the day's action.
Brooke Rice would be the only Lady Tiger to record multiple hits in Game Two, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a double.
Jasmine Finuff was charged with the loss, going 6.0 innings, allowing seven hits, one earned run on the homer, three walks, and five strikeouts.
Edward Waters prepares to head to the SIAC Crossover next Tuesday-Thursday in Hoover, Alabama.
