Box Score Memphis, Tennessee-The Edward Waters men's basketball squad did their own version of the "Tennessee Two-Step" on Saturday afternoon. After knocking off Lane on Thursday evening in Jackson, the Tigers duplicated their feat with a resounding 95-88 win over LeMoyne-Owen to extend their winning streak to a season high three games.

The Tigers (6-7, 4-2 SIAC) came out of the gates hot, starting the contest on an 8-0 run four minutes into the first half. With Edward Waters leading 11-4 with 13:49 remaining, LeMoyne-Owen (6-7, 4-3 SIAC) fired back with an 8-6 run of their own to tie the contest at 12-12 with 11:21 remaining. EWU was able to get some more breathing room from that point as an 18-4 Tiger run over the next 1:39 gave them a 30-16 lead with 9:42 left. The Magicians would close the half with a 33-19 run to tie the contest at 39-39 going into the locker room.

The two squads traded shots at the beginning of the second half, but Edward Waters began to pull away, taking a 75-68 lead with 8:09 remaining. LeMoyne-Owen would come as close at two points from the lead, but Edward Waters was able to close contest out on a 15-8 run to ensure a happy ride back to Jacksonville with victory in hand.

Goliath Mitchell led all scorers on the evening with 33 points on 13-of-17 shooting, including going a perfect 3-for-3 from three point range. D'Shun Edwards got his first start of the season for the Tigers and had quite the contest as well with 16 points, while R. J. Noord chipped in with 12 for the Purple & Orange.

Edward Waters heads into SIAC East Division play in their next contest on Saturday, January 13th with a road contest against Albany State.
