New York, New York-The 2024 indoor track & field season began for the Edward Waters women's & men's teams on Saturday afternoon as the participated in the HBCU Showcase presented by KPMG at the world famed New York Armory.
The Lady Tigers were led by junior Emanuella Kone who took first place in the women's unseeded 60m, turning in a time of 7.77. Kone also had also turned in a 14th place finish in the women's 200m at 26.05. Junior
Briana Morris finished 16th inn the women's triple jump at 10.26m (33', 08.00"). Freshman Valerie Brown turned in a Top 30 finish in the women's long jump at 4.78m (15', 08.25") which was good enough for 26th place, while sophomore Sanya Joseph had a personal best mark of 4.61m (15', 01.50").
On the men's side, freshman Anthony Glover turned heads in New York, finishing 2nd in the men's high jump with a school record indoor mark of 2.00m (6', 06.75"). Junior
Taleo Bethel had a personal best mark indoors in the men's 60m at 7.29s, finishing in 13th, and also finished 17th in the men's triple jump at 12.73m (41', 09.25"). Sophomore Dauntevian Williams also had a Top 20 finish in the triple jump, finishing 19th at 12.02m (39', 05.25"). Senior
Jaquan McCants had an indoor personal best mark himself in the men's long jump at 6.34m (20', 09.75").
The Tigers will next take part in the RADD Collegiate Invitiational on Friday, January 19th in Gainesville, FL.
