Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina-Sophomore wide receiver Johnny Jones burst on to the scene this season, being a siginificant part in one of the most potent offensive attacks in not just the SIAC and HBCU football, but in all of the NCAA Division II. For his efforts on the gridiron, he was recognized by BOXTOROW as a 2024 Honorable Mention HBCU All-American.

Jones had a breakout season for Edward Waters in 2023, leading the Tigers' second ranked aerial attack in the SIAC. The Pahokee native started all 10 games this season, placing third in the conference with 71 catches for 855 yards, averaged 12.0 yards per reception, and six receiving touchdowns. He also placed in the top 30 amongst all NCAA Division II players in receiving yards.

Jones was also one of five First Team All-SIAC selections that Edward Waters had in the 2023 season.
