Tuskegee, Alabama-One week after earning a hard fought victory over Lane for their Homecoming, Edward Waters will now look to play Homecoming spoiler on Saturday, as they head west to battle the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University in a key SIAC matchup.

PREVIEWING EDWARD WATERS:
LAST TIME OUT: The Tigers saw their winning streak swell to three with a 37-30 Homecoming victory over Lane College. The EWU offense went over the 400 yard mark for the fifth time this season, finishing last week's contest with 482 yards (305 passing, 177 Rushing).
AERIAL ATTACK FLOURISHING: Edward Waters is not only second in the SIAC in Passing Offense, but through six games, the Tigers are ranked #14 amongst all NCAA Division II teams in passing offense, averaging 277.0 yards per game. The Tigers also house the #2 QB in the SIAC in passing yards, who is also tied for 1st in the league in passing TDs with 14, and the conference's #1 & #2 leaders in receiving in
Johnny Jones and
Nathan Rembert.
PUT SOME "RESPECK" ON HIS NAME: Graduate QB
Jyron Russell has set the SIAC ablaze with his tremendous play this season. Last week, Russell showcased both his arm and his legs, in EWU's Homecoming win over Lane. Russell finished 20-30 passing, for 305 yards, his third game of 300+ yards passing this season, and three touchdowns. He also added eight carries for 46 yards and a rushing TD. For his efforts, he was selected as the SIAC Offensive Player of the week, the second straight week that a Tiger has received a conference award.
DYNAMIC DUO: Sophomore WR
Johnny Jones and Freshman WR Nathan Rember have been one of the most lethal receiving duos in Division II football. Jones leads the conference with 45 catches for 535 yards and two TDs, while Rembert moved to now bwing tied for second in the SIAC with 17 catches for 424 yards and 6 TDs. Additionally, his six receiving TD's is tied for first in receiving TD's in the conference.
TACKLING MACHINE: Junior LB Widmyer Garçon has been the unquestioned leader of the defensive unit, leading by action. Last week against the Dragons, Garçon led the Tigers with a game high 14 tackle and his now tied for fourth in the league in Tackles with 45 and a 7.5 per game average. Sophomore CB
Vashaun Stockman is also creeping up the conference list in takeaways as he is now 13h in the conference in that stat.

GOLDEN TIGERS SHINING: Edward Waters will have to deal with the mystique of one of the most dominant HBCU football programs in the country. Tuskegee is the all-time winningest HBCU football program and has won an astounding 29 SIAC football championships with the first coming in 1917.
BY THE NUMBERS: The 2023 edition of the Golden Tigers enter Saturday's matchup with a 5-1 overall record and are 4-0 in the SIAC. TU is one of four teams in the SIAC with an unblemished conference mark, joining Benedict, Fort Valley St, and Albany St. In their last action, the Golden Tigers used a strong second half effort to earn a 40-28 win over rival Morehouse in their Classic matchup in Birmingham. TU is 5th in scoring offense (28.5 PPG), 7th in total offense (324.5 ypg), 4th in rushing offense (139.5 ypg), and 10th in passing offense (185.0 ypg). Defensively, TU is 6th in scoring defense (28.3 ppg), 8th in total defense (388.0 ypg), 8th against the run (166.8 ypg), and 7th against the pass (221.2 ypg).
INDIVIDUAL LEADERS: Senior QB Bryson Williams leads TU going 33-55 passing for 486 yards, & 3 TDs. On the ground, Sophomore RB Johnny Morris ranks 8th in the SIAC in rushing with 324 yards on 49 carries and 3 TD, avg. 6.6 ypc. Sophomore WR Antonio Meeks is 10th in the league in receiving with 13 catches for 306 yards, and 3 TDs, avg. 23.5 ypc. TU has the 4th & 5th ranked tacklers in the league. Sophomore LB Malik Moore, a Tallahassee native, has 47 total tackles, 6.0 TFLs, 2 sacks, 1 INT, and 3 PBUs. Fellow sophomore LB Vincent Hill is just behind with 45 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, 0.5 sacks & 2 INT's. Sophomore DB Mikael King is 2nd in the league in picks with four on the year.
