Tigers Bring Home Third Place At GCAC Outdoor Championships

Jacksonville, Florida-For the first time since joining the conference in 2011, Edward Waters College had the honor of hosting the GCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday at Hodges Stadium and Earl S. Kitchings Stadium. The Tigers looked to win their sixth consecutive GCAC title, but would ultimately have to settle for third behind second place Xavier and new champion Dillard.

Day One: Hodges Stadium, University of North Florida:

In the first event of the 2021 GCAC Championships, the Discus, Cliventz Alexis brought home gold with a personal best toss of 43.73m. He then followed that up with a second place finish in the Javelin with a toss of 40.36m.

Day Two: Earl S. Kitchings Stadium, William M. Raines H. S.:

The Men's 4x800m Relay team of Jaquan McCants, J'von Keene, Gustavo Guzman, and Jourdan Bell took second in the event, in a time of 8:54.60.

The 4x100m Relay team (Larry Degraffread, Gerard Marc-Lipscomb, Willie Williams, and Tavion Crittenden) came in third at 45.82.

Jourdan Bell won the Men's 110m Hurdles with a time of 15.54, then later followed that with a first place finish in the Men's 400m Hurdles at 53.84.

The 4x400m Relay team of Samuel Israel, Jaquan McCants, J'von Keene, and Jourdan Bell took home bronze at 3:32.39

Freshman Renaldi Falwell capped his first GCAC Championships by taking home his first GCAC title in the Men's Shot Put at 13.49m.

The Purple & Orange will have their final opportunity for qualifying spots at the NAIA National Championships as they will take part in the UNF Invitational starting on Thursday, April 29th.
