JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Edward Waters University Athletics has announced the hiring of Deavian Pitt as its new Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance. Pitt officially joined the department on June 15, 2026, bringing a strong background in NCAA compliance, student-athlete development, and athletic administration.
Pitt arrives at Edward Waters with a diverse combination of athletic, academic, and professional experiences that have prepared her to support the continued growth and success of Tiger Athletics.
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Pitt began her collegiate career at Coastal Alabama Community College, where she competed on the women's basketball team while earning an Associate of Science degree in Business. She later transferred to Paine College, where she continued her athletic career as a dual-sport student-athlete in women's basketball and volleyball.
During her time at Paine, Pitt excelled both academically and athletically, graduating as the institution's Valedictorian while earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing.
Pitt continued her education at Western Illinois University, where she earned a Master of Science degree in Sport Management in 2026. While pursuing her graduate studies, she served as a Compliance Graduate Assistant within the Leathernecks' athletics department. In that role, she supported NCAA and conference compliance operations, student-athlete eligibility processes, rules education initiatives, and institutional compliance efforts.
As Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at Edward Waters, Pitt will oversee the department's compliance programs to ensure adherence to NCAA legislation and conference regulations while promoting institutional control and accountability. Her responsibilities include eligibility certification, recruiting and transfer compliance, financial aid monitoring, rules education, and the implementation of policies and procedures designed to support student-athlete success.
Pitt's experience as a former multi-sport collegiate student-athlete provides her with a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing today's student-athletes.
