Edward Waters Men’s Basketball Earns National Recognition for Academic Excellence from NABC

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has officially announced the recipients of the 2024-25 NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards and the NABC Honors Court, recognizing outstanding achievement in the classroom by men's college basketball teams and individual student-athletes.

Among those honored were the Edward Waters University men's basketball program, which earned the 2024–25 NABC Team Academic Excellence Award — an honor bestowed upon programs that concluded the academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Additionally, five Edward Waters student-athletes were named to the NABC Honors Court, which recognizes juniors, seniors, and graduate student-athletes who achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher during the academic year.

These six standout Tigers have demonstrated excellence not just on the court, but in the classroom — embodying the true spirit of the student-athlete experience.

"Education is one of the NABC's five core values, and we are proud to recognize the academic accomplishments of these programs and individual student-athletes across our sport," said NABC Executive Director Craig Robinson. "The dedication and hard work of these athletes, along with their coaches and support staff members who prioritize academic success, deserves to be widely celebrated."

This year, over 2,400 student-athletes across all levels of collegiate men's basketball were named to the NABC Honors Court, and nearly 400 programs received the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award — making this one of the most competitive and celebrated academic classes in recent memory.

Edward Waters University continues to place a strong emphasis on the academic and personal development of its student-athletes. Head Coach Cabral Huff and the entire coaching and academic support staff are deeply committed to ensuring Tiger basketball players excel both on the hardwood and in their educational pursuits.

This latest national recognition underscores that commitment — and reflects the well-rounded excellence being cultivated within the Edward Waters men's basketball program.
