Americus, GA., -- Edward Waters hit the road for a dual match against Georgia Southwestern State on Tuesday afternoon at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex. Dispite a valiant effort by the Lady Tigers, they ultimately dropped the match, 4-3.
Giulia Peres and
Aalisha Alexis won their doubles match over Melissa Duarte and Monique Gundrum, 6-4. It would be the lone doubles win for Edward Waters as
Lara Viehrig and
Andrea Rodriguez fell to Madeline Barnes and Mabry Bowron 0-6 and
Katharina Weigl and Nadja Dzeletovic lost in the doubles match to Maya Boyton and Emmarae Smith 2-6.
The Lady Tigers did pick up singles wins as Peres defeated Gundrum, 6-4, 7-6 and Weigl snagged a victory over Boyton, 6-1, 6-0.
Alexis fell in her singles match, 6-3, 3-6, 0-6 to Duarte while Rodriguez dropped her match to Barnes, 0-6, 0-6. Viehrig also lost her match to Bowron, 0-6, 1-6 and Dzeletovic was defeated 6-4, 2-6, 0-6 by Smith.
The Lady Tigers will travel to Rome, Georgia for the SIAC Round Up on March 5-7 where they will face conference foes Fort Valley, Spring Hill, Savannah State, Albany State, Tuskegee and Clark Atlanta in a three-day span.
