Jacksonville., -- The Edward Waters baseball team finished 1-2 in their home series against the visiting Albany State Golden Rams.
Albany State scored eight runs in the sixth inning, which helped them defeat EWU 15-4 in the opening game of the SIAC East series.
Edward Waters opened the scoring in the bottom of the third thanks to two singles. The Tigers first got on the board when
Torry Jones singled, scoring two runs.
ASU flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth, scoring eight runs on five hits to take the lead, 8-3. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two.
EWU scored one run in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run to left field by
Misael Ramos.
A solo home run to left field in the top of the eighth for the Albany State and a grand slam to left field in the top of the ninth put the score out of reach for Edward Waters.
Luis Valero took the loss for EWU. The hurler went one-third of an inning, surrendering five runs, striking out one and walking two.
Anthony Bayyat stepped on the hill first for EWU. The righty allowed six hits and three runs over five innings, striking out one and walking none.

Jones and Ramos were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for EWU. Jones and Ramos were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Edward Waters.
In the final game of the doubleheader, EWU fell 13-12 to Albany State despite out-hitting them 13 to 12.
Dave Mitchum led EWU with three hits.
The Tigers collected 13 hits, and the Golden Rams had 12 in the high-scoring affair.
ASU got on the board in the top of the first inning after a double, scored one run. Another two singles scored two runs, and a homer to left field, scored three runs.
EWU made the score 9-6 in the bottom of the fourth inning when
Torry Jones singled, scoring one run, and
Misael Ramos homered to left field, scoring three runs.
Edward Waters made the score 11-9 in the bottom of the seventh inning when
Raul Ramirez hit a solo home run to center field, and
Erickson Matos homered to left field, scoring two runs.
EWU tied the game up at 11 in the bottom of the ninth thanks to two singles. EWU then tied the game at 12 on a single by Mitchum.

A solo home run to left field gave Albany State the lead, 13-12, in the top of the tenth.
EWU amassed 13 hits in the game. Ramos drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Tigers with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-6 on the day. Jones, Aidan Rice, and
Hugo Schoening each collected multiple hits for EWU. Mitchum stole four bases.
In the final game of the series,
Dave Mitchum drove in four runs on two hits to lead EWU past Albany State 13-6. Mitchum hit a home run to center field in the fourth inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the fifth inning, scoring two.
EWU came back to win despite trailing 4-0 in the second.
ASU jumped out to the lead in the top of the second inning after a solo home run to left field, an error scored two runs, and A single, scored one run.
A sacrifice fly extended the Golden Ram lead to 5-1 in the top of the third inning.
Edward Waters flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs on five hits to take the lead, 7-5. The biggest blow in the inning was a grand slam to left field by
Jordan Smith on a full count that drove in four.
Albany State scored one run in the top of the fifth on a solo home run to left field.
Three more EWU runs crossed the plate in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 13-6.
Misael Ramos hit a solo home run to left field,
Caden Hutchinson doubled, scoring one run, and
Chase Morris singled, scoring one run.
Josh Taylor earned the win for EWU. The pitcher surrendered two hits and one run over four innings, striking out three and walking two. Liam Prepetit opened the game for EWU. The hurler allowed four hits and five runs (two earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking three.
EWU accumulated 14 hits in the game. Smith, the number seven hitter for the Tigers, led the way with five runs batted in. The center fielder went 1-for-2 on the day.
Raul Ramirez went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead EWU in hits. Morris and Mitchum each collected multiple hits for EWU. Hutchinson stole two bases.
