Atlanta, Ga. — Edward Waters University standout outside hitter Naomy Vergez has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Women's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week following an impressive week of play that showcased her consistency, versatility, and leadership on the court.
Vergez powered the Lady Tigers to a 1–1 record on the week, recording double-doubles in both matches and establishing herself as one of the league's top offensive threats.
In Edward Waters' 3–0 sweep of Clark Atlanta, Vergez was unstoppable, tallying 17 kills, 11 digs, and three service aces, helping the Lady Tigers dominate from start to finish. She followed that performance with a remarkable effort in a thrilling 3–2 loss to Savannah State, where she posted 24 kills, a season-high 21 digs, and one ace in a match that came down to the wire.
Across the two matches, Vergez totaled 41 kills, 32 digs, and four aces, while hitting an impressive .337 percentage — a testament to her efficiency and offensive prowess.
"Naomy continues to elevate her game each week," said Edward Waters head coach Lauren Ford. "She brings energy, focus, and leadership every time she steps on the court, and her performance this week shows how valuable she is to our team's success."
The Lady Tigers will look to build on Vergez's momentum as they continue their push through SIAC play. Vergez and the Lady Tigers will face the Albany State Wildcats at home on Thursday, October 23.
