Atlanta, Ga. — Edward Waters University middle hitter Norah Laurore has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week following an outstanding series of performances that anchored the Lady Tigers' front line on both sides of the net.
Laurore showcased her all-around skill and defensive dominance during a strong week for Edward Waters, helping the Lady Tigers earn a 1–1 record.
In the team's 3–0 sweep of Clark Atlanta, Laurore came just shy of a double-double, finishing with nine kills, 10 digs, five blocks, one ace, and one assist. She followed that effort with another stellar performance in a hard-fought 3–2 road loss to Savannah State, where she recorded a double-double — tallying 10 kills, 14 digs, seven blocks, and three aces.
Across both matches, Laurore totaled 19 kills, 24 digs, 12 blocks, and four aces, proving to be a key two-way presence for Edward Waters. Her defensive awareness, net play, and leadership continue to set the tone for the Lady Tigers.
"Norah's energy and consistency have been a huge part of our success," said head coach Lauren Ford. "She plays with passion and intensity every point, and her ability to impact the game both defensively and offensively is what makes her special."
With Laurore's continued strong play, the Lady Tigers aim to carry their momentum deeper into SIAC competition. Laurore and the Lady Tigers will face the Albany State Wildcats at home on Thursday, October 23.
