Edward Waters and Virginia-Lynchburg meet on the football field for the fifth meeting all-time and the first time since 2016. The Tigers lead the series 3-1, including a 42-6 win at home over the Dragons in '16.

PREVIEWING EDWARD WATERS:
LAST TIME OUT: EWU's five-game winning streak came to a sudden end last week in their 59-21 loss at rival Allen University in the 4th Annual AME Football Classic. The loss for the Tigers was the first to Allen since 1949 as well as the first in the AME Classic format. The Tigers gave up 524 yards of offense to the Yellow Jackets, with 326 coming through the air. The EWU offense did not fare much better, with their 21 points being tied for their lowest point output of the season.
WITH A WIN: Edward Waters will have claimed their first season of +.500 football in nearly two decades. The last winning season for the Tigers game in 2004, when the Purple & Orange went 8-3 and won the Southeast Atlantic Conference Championship.
STILL TOPS: The EWU offense still is near the top of the conference in scoring offense (5th/28.0 ppg), total offense (4th/397.3 ypg), and passing (2nd/284.7). QB Jyron Russell is second in the conference in passing (273.4 ypg), but leads the SIAC in passing touchdowns with 14. WRs Nathan Rembert and Johnny Jones are 3rd and 6th in the conference in receiving, while Rembert still leads the conference with eight receiving touchdowns.
LAST RIDE: 14 Seniors/Graduate Students will don the Purple & Orange for the final time in their collegiate careers. QB Jyron Russell, WR Yanez Rogers, WR Arsiah McCorker, DB Jonathan Gregory, DB C. J. Maybin, DE Jaren Wilson, DT Quintorio "Dray" Powell, RB DeShaun Hugee, OL Shamar Dixon, DB Ahmaud Jordan, WR Eric Hoff, Jr., RB Roy Colum, DT Donnie Wilburn, and DT Dadrion James will be recognized prior to kickoff for their dedication to the program.
PREVIEWING VIRGINIA-LYNCHBURG:
VUL FINDING THEIR WAY: The Dragons are in their 13th season of their rebirthed program, starting back in 2011. VUL at present are members of the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) but have played several Division I and Division II squads since coming back to the gridiron. VUL at one time played in the CIAA from 1921-1954.
ROAD WARRIORS: Out of the 11 football contests that VUL has played this year, the Dragons have only played at home just once. The Dragons will have played six Division I schools with Edward Waters making their fourth Division II opponent. The Dragons did turn heads a couple weeks ago with their shocking 45-40 road win at Lane College, spoiling their homecoming.
BY THE NUMBERS: The Dragons average 191.8 ypg of total offense (35.0 rushing, 156.8 passing), while the concede 354.8 to opponents (243.3 rushing, 111.5 passing). VUL scores 18.5 points per game, while they give up 39.0 points per contest to opponents.
VUL HEAD COACH: Tim Newman is in his third season as the head coach and Athletic Director at VUL. Over his time there, he has amassed a 4-26 record during his time at VUL. Newman is a former three-time CIAA as a running back at Johnson C. Smith. Following his college career, he did sign as a free agent with the New York Jets in 1986.
