Jacksonville, Florida-Aalisha Alexis, one of the top amateur players in her home country of Trinidad and Tobago, has signed her letter of intent, officially making her the first signing in the history of the new Edward Waters women's tennis program, head coach Marc Atkinson announced.

A native of Port of Spain, Alexis has won several events over her amateur career and has also represented her country on the junior international stage on numerous occasions. Alexis won the Inaugural Angles Open Tennis Tournament "A" Division in 2021, the UTR Trinidad Ladies Open, as well as the East Club Classified Senior Open Tournament, also in 2021. Alexis is also an accomplished player on the doubles side, becoming a quarterfinalist in the 2022 ITF J4 Tacarigua Tournament, and also a finalist in the Sub Region 4 Mixed Team Tournament on two occasions.

Internationally, Alexis represented T&T at the World Junior Tennis Championship in 2017 & 2018, the JITIC Tennis Tournament in 2018, the ITF Junior Fed Cup in 2019, and the 2021 Billie Jean King Cup. 

Alexis also had the opportunity to train at the famed Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in France, where she was instructed by Patrick Mouratoglou, who coached all-time tennis great Serena Williams for 10 years (2012-2022), guiding her to multiple Grand Slam titles while also lifting her to the #1 world ranking. 

Alexis and the new Lady Tiger program will take to the courts for their inaugural season in the Spring of 2024.
