Box Score Gaffney, South Carolina-The EWU men's volleyball squad opened their 2023 season on Friday evening in a road contest against Limestone College. The Purple and Orange had their opportunities, taking leads in each set of their match, but were unable to salvage a game, falling 3-0 (17-25, 23-25, 21-25) to the homestanding Saints at the Timken Center.

The Tigers (0-1) had difficulty withstanding big runs from Limestone (3-3) in each set and were unable to fire back with runs of their own. Looking inside the stats, Limestone barely outhit Edward Waters .302 to .238, and took a 38-35 edge in kills in the match. The Tigers did take a small advantage in digs with 23 compared to 20 for the Saints.

Preseason First Team All-SIAC selection Evens Edouard led the Tigers with 14 kills, Second Team All-SIAC member Kaelen Ingram was just behind with 10,  while fellow First Team member Joelvi Jimenez racked up five for EWU. Kenyon Haynes dished out 31 assists, while Oneil Daley turned in a match high seven digs. 

The Tigers will have a quick turnaround on Saturday afternoon with a 1:00pm first serve against NAIA member, Cumberland University.
