JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — After putting together one of the most explosive performances of his Edward Waters career, Tigers quarterback Tavion Faulk has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Offensive Player of the Week.
Faulk earned the weekly honor following a dominant performance in Edward Waters' 55-30 home victory over Savannah State on Saturday evening at Nathaniel Glover Community Field & Stadium. The win improved the Tigers to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in SIAC play.
The Tigers' signal caller completed 19-of-31 passes for 422 yards and five touchdowns, averaging more than 13 yards per attempt while posting a 131.38 quarterback rating. Faulk also found the end zone on the ground with a two-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, giving him six total touchdowns on the night.
Faulk and the EWU offense wasted little time making their presence felt. He opened the scoring with a 42-yard touchdown pass to Jayden Pressey before connecting with Xavier Irvin from 29 yards out later in the first quarter, giving the Tigers an early 14-0 advantage.
The big plays continued in the second quarter.
Faulk found Izaiah Jean-Baptiste for a 52-yard touchdown less than two minutes into the period. After Savannah State got on the scoreboard, Faulk answered by connecting with Tylon Williams on a 69-yard touchdown, the Tigers' longest scoring play of the evening.
Faulk then delivered his fifth touchdown pass before halftime, finding Jean-Baptiste for a 17-yard score on fourth-and-12 to give Edward Waters a commanding 35-7 advantage. EWU eventually carried a 35-14 lead into the locker room.
Faulk spread the football around throughout the evening, with four different Tigers catching touchdown passes. Jean-Baptiste led the receiving corps with four catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns, while Williams finished with three receptions for 84 yards and a score. Pressey hauled in five passes for 81 yards and a touchdown, and Irvin added two catches for 36 yards and a score.
The quarterback wasn't finished after halftime. Following a 49-yard completion to Johntarrious Thomas that moved the Tigers to the Savannah State two-yard line, Faulk called his own number and crossed the goal line for a two-yard rushing touchdown, extending EWU's advantage to 42-14.
Behind Faulk's performance, Edward Waters produced 519 yards of total offense and averaged 7.9 yards per play. The Tigers scored touchdowns on five passes and added another on the ground while building a lead as large as 28 points.
The SIAC weekly honor adds another highlight to a strong start to the 2026 campaign for Faulk and the Tigers. Through four games, Edward Waters owns a 3-1 record, including consecutive conference victories over Miles and Savannah State.
Faulk and the Tigers will return to action on Saturday, September 26, when Edward Waters travels to Atlanta for an SIAC matchup against Morehouse College at B.T. Harvey Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
