Edward Waters Women’s Basketball Makes History with Selection to NCAA Division II South Regional Tournament

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- For the first time in program history at the Division II level, the Edward Waters University women's basketball team is heading to the NCAA postseason.

The Lady Tigers have officially been selected to participate in the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball South Regional Tournament, marking another milestone in what has already been a historic 2025–26 season. Edward Waters earned the No. 8 seed and will face the No. 1 seed and tournament host University of Alabama in Huntsville in the opening round.

The regional tournament will take place at Spragins Hall on the UAH campus in Huntsville, Alabama. This will be a first time match up between the two teams.

Edward Waters enters the tournament with a 24–5 overall record, including an impressive 21–3 mark in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. The Lady Tigers also captured the SIAC East Division Title while setting the program's single-season wins record. EWU has been one of the hottest teams in the region, winning 14 of its last 15 games heading into the Regional Tournament.

The Lady Tigers' historic season has been fueled by one of the most dominant defensive performances in all of NCAA Division II. Edward Waters has been the top defensive team in the nation throughout the season, allowing just 50.4 points per game.

Even more impressive, the Lady Tigers are limiting opponents to just 32.0 percent shooting from the field while holding teams to a staggering 22.5 percent from three-point range — ranking second and first nationally in those categories, respectively. Their relentless defensive pressure has become the foundation of a team that has consistently controlled the tempo and dictated games on both ends of the floor.

Several Lady Tigers earned All-SIAC honors this season. Point guard Imani Harris earned First Team All-SIAC honors as well as being named SIAC Newcomer of the Year. Shooting guard Tan Brown and forward Shcira Fowles both garnered All-SIAC Second-Team selections and Head Coach Eric Jackson, Jr., was voted as SIAC Coach of the Year, another history making moment for this special squad.

The NCAA regional selection adds yet another milestone for a program that continues to reach new heights in just its second season competing at the Division II level.

Game times, ticket information, and live streaming details will be announced by the host institution and made available through UAH athletics.

With history already made and momentum firmly on their side, the Lady Tigers now turn their attention to the national stage, looking to continue their remarkable season in the NCAA Tournament.
