JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Edward Waters University women's basketball team continues to make history.
The Lady Tigers have won 10 consecutive games and 14 of their last 15 overall, surging to first place in the SIAC East Division standings with a 19-4 overall record and a dominant 17-3 mark in conference play. As a result of their remarkable stretch, EWU also received four votes in the latest WBCA NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
The national recognition underscores what has been a statement season for the Lady Tigers — one fueled by elite defense and balanced offensive production.
Edward Waters has emerged as statistically the top defensive team among 290 NCAA Division II programs. The Lady Tigers are allowing just 50.3 points per game and have held opponents under 50 points in five consecutive contests. Even more impressive, EWU is limiting opponents to just 32.9 percent shooting from the field and 23.8 percent from three-point range — both marks ranking third nationally.
Their defensive identity has become the cornerstone of their championship push.
Offensively, the Lady Tigers are led by junior guard Tan Brown, who is averaging 13.9 points per game — fourth best in the SIAC. The Eustis, Fla. native leads the conference with 57 made three-pointers, consistently stretching defenses and delivering timely scoring.
In the paint, senior forward Shcira Fowles has been a force on the glass. The Harlem, N.Y. native leads the SIAC with 10.4 rebounds per contest, ranking 17th nationally. Fowles has recorded eight double-doubles this season while averaging 7.8 points per game. A two-time SIAC Newcomer of the Week honoree, she also ranks ninth in the conference with 2.7 assists per game, showcasing her versatility.
Junior guard Imani Harris continues to orchestrate the Lady Tigers' offense with poise and efficiency. The Bronx, N.Y. product is third in the SIAC with 3.7 assists per game and leads the conference with a 2.1 assist-to-turnover ratio. Harris is averaging 11.7 points per game and has earned both SIAC Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week honors this season.
With momentum firmly on their side, the Lady Tigers will close out the regular season with four challenging road games against Savannah State, Benedict, Miles, and Tuskegee.
The SIAC Postseason Tournament begins February 28 with higher seeds hosting first-round contests before the tournament shifts to the Clayton County Convocation Center in Morrow, Ga., March 4–7, 2026.
Playing some of their best basketball of the season — particularly on the defensive end — the Lady Tigers have positioned themselves as not only conference contenders, but a team gaining national attention at the right time.
