Jacksonville, FL.,-- Edward Waters University (EWU) proudly announces that Women's Basketball Head Coach Eric Jackson Jr. has been invited to coach at the 3rd Annual HBCU All-Star Dream Classic, a distinguished event celebrating the finest talent among Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
The basketball event will take place this summer on Saturday, August 9, 2023 on the historic court of Rucker Park in Harlem, NY. The women's game is set to begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 6:30 p.m.
The HBCU All-Star Dream Classic is a hallmark event that brings together top-tier HBCU athletes and coaches, providing a platform to showcase their skills and celebrate Black excellence in collegiate basketball. Held at the historic Holcombe Rucker Park in Harlem, New York, the Classic is more than just a game; it's a cultural celebration that honors the rich legacy and contributions of HBCUs to the sport and society at large.
Coach Jackson's selection is a testament to his impactful career and leadership in women's basketball. Before joining EWU, Jackson led Rust College's women's basketball program for seven seasons, amassing an impressive 148-43 record. Under his guidance, Rust College secured four consecutive Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Regular Season Championships, three straight GCAC Tournament Titles, and four consecutive appearances in the NAIA Women's Basketball Tournament .
In his inaugural season (2024-25) with the Edward Waters Lady Tigers, Coach Jackson has been instrumental in revitalizing the program, instilling a culture of discipline, resilience, and competitive spirit.
