Jacksonville, FL., -- Edward Water Baseball wrapped up their 2025 regular season with a three-game East Division home series sweep over the visiting Clark Atlanta Panthers.
EWU bested Clark Atlanta 8-3 to open the series on Friday afternoon.
The Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after
Caden Hutchinson doubled down the left field line, and
Dannon Smith hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
Chase Morris hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the seventh for EWU.
Alexander Davila earned the win for Edward Waters. The pitcher allowed seven hits and one run over five innings, striking out two and walking four.
Cameron Chastain tossed one inning of no-run ball for EWU in relief. The righty gave up zero hits, striking out one and walking one.
Raul Ramirez and Hutchinson were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for the Tigers.
Torry Jones and Hutchinson each collected two hits for EWU.
Misael Ramos and Hutchinson each stole multiple bases for Edward Waters as the team stole seven bases in the game and turned one double play.
In the second game of the doubleheader, EWU easily dispatched Clark Atlanta ,13-0.
The Tiers were the first to get on the board in the first when an error scored one run.
EWU added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after CAU committed an error,
Caden Hutchinson singled, and
Torry Jones grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run.
Edward Waters added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after
Dannon Smith singled to center field,
Erickson Matos doubled down the left field line, Hutchinson grounded out, and
Hugo Schoening singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
The Tigers scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Misael Ramos homered to center field, scoring two runs, an error scored two runs, and an error scored one run.
Liam Prepetit earned the win for EWU. The starter allowed one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out four and walking two.
Cason Shurling and
Andres Carracciolo each threw shutout innings for the Tigers in relief.
EWU tallied 15 hits in the game. D. Smith and JC Medina were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Edward Waters. Ramos and Hutchinson each drove in two runs for EWU and Schoening collected two hits for the Tigers in five at bats.
Jordan Smith stole two bases as the squad stole three bases in the game.
On Senior Day for the Tigers, EWU won big over the CAU Panthers 10-4.
A solo home run to right field by Andrew Leonard put the Panthers on the board in the top of the third.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Tigers went back into the lead after
Hugo Schoening grounded out,
Torry Jones doubled down the right field line,
Misael Ramos singled to center field, and CAU committed an error, each scoring one run.
Edward Waters added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on two hits.
Dave Mitchum doubled, scoring one run, Schoening grounded out, scoring one run, and Ramos hit a solo home run to left field.
Anthony Bayyat earned the win for the Tigers. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and one run over five innings, striking out four and walking none.
Cameron Chastain threw one inning of no-run ball for EWU in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out one and walking one.
Ramos and Mitchum each collected two hits for EWU. Jones, Ramos, and Schoening each drove in two runs for the Tigers. EWU had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 10 walks for the game.
Chase Morris and
Caden Hutchinson led the team with two bases on balls each. Morris, Mitchum, and Hutchinson each stole multiple bases for EWU as the Tigers ran wild on the base paths, collecting 10 stolen bases for the game.
The Tigers will head into the 2025 SIAC Baseball Championship Tournament as the No.2 seed with an overall record of 33-16 and a 25-8 mark in conference play.
