Mia Morel Selected as SIAC Newcomer of the Year and Third-Team All-SIAC

Atlanta, GA., -- The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAC) announced its 2024-25 women's basketball All-Conference team members and award winners. Edward Waters combo guard Mia Morel was selected as SIAC Newcomer of the Year as well as a earning a Third-Team All-SIAC nod.

The guard from Madison, WI, finished 12th in the league in scoring at 11.4 points per game while playing around 27 minutes per contest. The sharpshooting guard was second in the conference with 54 made three-pointers, averaging just over two made threes per game. Morel shot 33.8% from beyond the arc and 89.1% from the charity stripe. 

Morel scored in double figures ten times through 23 games of action on the season. The junior guard notched finished with five games scoring over 20 points including a career-high 26 points on 8-for-13 shooting in a win over Allen in January. 
Mia was thrice named SIAC Newcomer of the Week during the season and she also garnered a SIAC Co-Player of the Week honor as well. 

Morel and the Lady Tigers women's basketball team look to build upon their fantastic season as they head into 2025-26 full of optimmism.
