Daley & Hendricks Set Program Records as Edward Waters Men's Volleyball Sweeps Season Series Over Benedict

Jacksonville, FL., -- The Edward Waters men's volleyball team secured the season sweep over Bendict College after win over the BC Tigers on Wednesday and Saturday last week.

In Wednesday's match, the EWU Tigers used a reverse sweep to come away with the 3-2 SIAC victory. Edward Waters won the match, 15-25, 22-25, 25-15, 25-20, 16-14 in a hard-fought battle that went down the final play.

The BC Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead before EWU used a 9-0 rally in the middle of the third set in route to a 25-15 set victory. After being down in the fourth set, Edward Waters would use another nine-point rally to force a fifth set.
EWU was able to capture the win in the back-and-forth fifth set to secure their first SIAC victory of the 2025 season.

Several Tiger student-athletes set program and career-high marks in the comeback win. Captains Oneil Daley and Richard Hendricks played impressively for EWU. Daley set a program record 55 assists and Hendricks turned in a program high 28 kills for Edward Waters.

Devonte Harmon added 12 kills and seven digs while Omari Morris also turned in 12 kills with nine digs.

In the Saturday afternoon rematch, things started off like Wednesday's match as Benedict took the first set over Edward Waters. But the EWU Tigers would fight back to take the next three sets for a 3-1 home SIAC win.

Richard Hendricks finished with a double-double notching 20 kills and 15 digs. Oneil Daley was once again a force setting up his teammates as her compiled 51 assists, eight digs and three aces. Rojey Hutchinson finished with 13 kills and nine digs while Omari Morris tallied 11 kills and seven digs. Libero Jeremiah Martinez added 12 digs for the Tigers.

Edward Waters will continue SIAC play with a road doubleheader against the Morehouse Maroon Tigers on Saturday March 15 inside Forbes Arena.
