Jacksonville, FL., - The Edward Waters women's basketball team dominated their way to a 57-45 home victory over Allen in the AME Roundball Rivalry Saturday evening, February 8 in the Adams-Jenkins Complex.
The Lady Tigers are winners in three of their last four games and now sit at 8-6 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play with a 12-7 mark overall on the season.Â
EWU controlled the game in all phases as they outscored the Yellowjackets in paint points, fast break points, bench scoring and rebounding. The tough pressure defense from the Lady Tigers held the visitors to just 25.4% shooting from the field and 5.6% shooting from three-point range.Â
Junior guard Nekaya Williams led all scorers with 19 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the floor. Williams added two steals and two rebounds while knocking down two three-pointers and her lone foul shot. Blesseth Dillingham was the only other Lady Tiger to notch double figures with 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting with a rebound and a steal in 18 minutes off the bench.Â
Taniah Bowers finished with seven points and seven rebounds and Leah Perry added seven points with eight rebounds and three blocks.Â
Edward Waters will be back in action on Monday evening, February 10 for an SIAC match up against Benedict College. Tipoff will be 5:30 p.m. Inside the Adams-Jenkins Complex.Â
