Jacksonville, FL -- Even though the Edward Waters Softball team collected eight hits to USC-Beaufort's six, they still fell 5-3 on Thursday.
Kylah Gardner,
Laura Scott, and
Hailey Vela each collected two hits for the Lady Tigers.
EWU was the first to get on the board in the first when Gardner tripled, scoring one run.
In the top of the third inning, USCB went back into the lead after Jaden Goodwin singled to center field, and Chloe Turner hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
Cierra Kinlaw earned the win for the Sand Sharks. The starter surrendered eight hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out two and walking two.
Keivana Durand took the loss for EWU. The starting pitcher went six innings, giving up three runs on six hits, striking out one and walking one.
Gardner provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Edward Waters with two runs batted in. The right fielder went 2-for-4 on the day.
In the second game of the day, USCB scored five runs in the second inning, which helped them defeat EWU 9-3 on Thursday.
USC-Beaufort opened the scoring in the first after Taelor Chang grounded out, scoring two runs.
The Sand Sharks scored five runs on six hits in the top of the second inning. Saria Simmons singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, and Chang singled, scoring two runs.
Cassie Brundage earned the win for USCB. The pitcher gave up five hits and three runs (two earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking one.
Shai-Ann Currie took the loss for the Lady Tigers. The pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, giving up seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits, striking out none and walking none.

Jamiah Holmes, and
Miah Jordan each collected one hit for EWU. Rounsaville,
Laura Scott, and Friedel each drove in one run for Edward Waters.
