Amari Floyd's Pullup Jumper Seals EWU's 75-73 Comeback Victory Over Benedict

Jacksonville, FL., -- With three seconds on the clock and the score tied at at 73, Amari Floyd slashed through the middle Benedict defense, caught the Jeremiah Kwarteng inbounds pass at the elbow and drained the jump shot sending The Jungle into a roar. The go ahead bucket propelled Edward Waters to a 75-73 comeback victory over Benedict College, Monday night.

A very familiar theme for these two teams as it was a go-ahead Trevino Glover corner three with under five seconds that led to an Edward Waters 73-71 road win last month.

The Tigers once again hold the top seed in the SIAC East Division with a 12-4 record in conference play and a improve to 16-7 overall. EWU are now winners in eight of their last 10 games and are 8-1 inside The Jungle.

Edward Waters Head Coach Cabral Huff was fired up when asked about his team's gutsy win. "Find a Way Tigers found a way again," expressed Huff. "After a dismal first half we battled back, defended and scored 52 second half points. A gritty win for us all the way through. We get a game winning bucket from Amari Floyd. Freshman Jaelen Nelson had a huge night to get us back in the game with some big time three pointers. Paired with Cyrus Huggard-Noel's strong rebounding and the poiser and leadership of Jeremiah Kwarteng all helped us win."

Nearly all five starters scored in double figures for the Tigers led by 19 points apiece for Prince Davies III and Jaelen Nelson. Davies shot 7-for-15 from the field to go along with five rebounds and a steal. Nelson went 5-for-10 from the floor with all five of his field goals coming from beyond the arc. Nelson also shot knocked down all four of his foul shots.

Amari Floyd finished the game with 12 points, seven rebounds, five steals and four assists. RJ Noord poured in 12 points and five rebounds. Cyrus Huggard-Noel added eight points while corralling and game high 11 rebounds to go along with two blocks. Jeremiah Kwarteng chipped in five points, three assists and three rebounds.

The Tigers will now hit the road for a Saturday SIAC Showdown with a match up against the second place Clark Atlanta Panthers inside L.S. Epps Gymnasium. Tip off is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
