Senior power forward Shcira Fowles continues to make her presence felt in the paint, earning SIAC Newcomer of the Week honors for the second consecutive week after another dominant stretch for the Edward Waters University Lady Tigers.
The Harlem, New York native helped propel EWU to a 2–0 record in SIAC play for the week, showcasing her all-around impact while averaging 7.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 block, and 1.0 steal in just 25.5 minutes per game.
Fowles set the tone in EWU's 58–43 road victory at Spring Hill, where she scored three points but delivered a commanding performance on the glass. She pulled down a season-high 15 rebounds, while also adding two assists, one block, and one steal, anchoring the Lady Tigers defensively and controlling the tempo inside.
She followed that effort with an efficient and physical showing in EWU's 71–42 road win over Albany State, finishing with 11 points and 12 rebounds to secure another double-double. Fowles also recorded one assist, one block, and one steal, shooting 4-for-7 from the field as the Lady Tigers cruised to victory.
On the season, Fowles has emerged as one of the most dominant rebounders in the conference and across Division II. She currently leads the SIAC in total rebounds, rebounds per game, and double-doubles, while ranking sixth nationally in Division II with 92 total rebounds, 11th with five double-doubles, and 14th with 11.4 rebounds per game.
With her relentless motor and consistent production, Fowles continues to be a driving force behind the Lady Tigers' success and a cornerstone of EWU's frontcourt as SIAC play rolls on.
The Lady Tigers currently sit second in the SIAC East Division Standings with a 5-2 mark in conference play and a 6-3 showing overall. EWU welcomes Miles and Tuskegee for a pair of home contests this week on Wednesday and Friday. Tipoff for both games is at 5:30 pm inside the Adams-Jenkins Complex on the campus of Edward Waters.
