Jacksonville, Fla. — Edward Waters University junior forward Shcira Fowles has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week, earning the award following a strong three-game stretch that helped lift the Lady Tigers to a successful showing at the inaugural HBCU Hoops Invitational.
Fowles becomes the second Edward Waters women's basketball player to receive the honor this season, joining teammate Diana Letaru, who earned the recognition earlier in the year—highlighting the depth, balance, and emerging talent within the program.
The versatile forward played a pivotal role in Edward Waters' 2–1 record last week, culminating in an appearance in the Championship Game of the HBCU Hoops Invitational. Fowles anchored the interior for the Lady Tigers on both ends of the floor, averaging, 6.3 points per game, a team-leading 9.3 rebounds per game and 2.6 assists per game
Her presence on the glass, play making ability, and poise in key moments helped stabilize the offense and stifle opposing attacks. Fowles' consistency and high-impact performances were instrumental in Edward Waters advancing through the tournament field and competing for the inaugural title.
Edward Waters University congratulates Shcira Fowles on being named SIAC Player of the Week and celebrates her critical contributions to one of the program's strongest starts in the Division II era.
